U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff said President Donald Trump will chair a "large meeting" at the White House on Wednesday to discuss a post-war plan for Gaza

When asked during an interview with Fox News whether there is a day-after plan for Gaza, Witkoff responded, "Yes, we've got a large meeting at the White House tomorrow, chaired by the President (Donald Trump)."

"It's a very comprehensive plan we're putting together for the next day that I think many people are going to see how robust it is and how well-meaning it is, and it reflects President Trump's humanitarian motives here."

"We think that we're going to settle this (war) one way or another, certainly before the end of this year," he added.

The announcement comes as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to host his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa'ar, in Washington on Wednesday for talks expected to focus on Gaza.

Israel kills nearly 63,000 people in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023

Israel has killed nearly 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children, in response to an Oct. 7, 2023, attack by the Palestinian group Hamas that killed nearly 1,200 Israelis and led to around 250 hostages being taken, according to official figures. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
