Turkish Cypriot President Tufan Erhurman was discharged from Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital on Saturday morning after falling ill during an event in Nicosia the previous evening, the presidency said.
In a statement, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Presidency said all medical examinations conducted at the hospital had produced positive results and that Erhurman had been discharged.
The presidency said Erhurman's general health condition was good and that he would rest for a period in line with doctors' recommendations.
Erhurman was taken to hospital Friday evening after falling ill during an event at the former Presidential Palace in the capital, Nicosia.
The presidency said Erhurman became unwell after experiencing low blood pressure during the event and was transported by ambulance to the Cardiology Department at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital for precautionary examinations.
He was admitted to the hospital at around 9 p.m. local time.
TRNC Health Minister Hakan Dincyurek told Anadolu that Erhurman arrived at the emergency department after feeling unwell.
Doctors initially examined whether his symptoms were linked to an aortic tear, but the tests came back clear.
Erhurman also underwent an emergency angiography, which found no abnormalities.
The presidency said Erhurman was discharged after all tests at the hospital produced favorable results.
Erhurman, 55, has served as president of the TRNC since October 2025 after defeating incumbent Ersin Tatar in the presidential election.
Before taking office, he led the Republican Turkish Party, or CTP, from 2016 to 2025 and served as prime minister between 2018 and 2019.
He also took part in Cyprus reunification negotiations between 2008 and 2010 and has long advocated a federal solution to the Cyprus issue.
