Turkish military forces have completed preparations for potential deployment to a Gaza stability force, with security sources saying the United States wants Ankara's participation despite Israeli opposition, according to Turkish media outlet Türkiye daily.

"The Americans really want us to be there, but Israel opposes it. The Americans are pressuring Israel for Turkish soldiers to be there," security sources told the outlet, emphasizing Türkiye's role as one of the ceasefire's guarantor countries.

Türkiye, which helped coordinate prisoner exchanges and worked extensively for the ceasefire, has prepared modular units ready for immediate deployment when called upon, the sources said.

"Opposing Turkish forces means supporting genocide"

Turkish security sources delivered a stark assessment of opposition to Turkish participation: "You cannot say 'Turkish soldiers should not come' when Türkiye is clearly one of the countries that worked hardest for the ceasefire and coordinated prisoner exchanges."

"If you're saying this, it means you don't want this mission to succeed, you intend to continue the genocide," the sources stated.

They emphasized that Ankara's absence would not end the mission, noting that participation by countries like Indonesia, Azerbaijan and Pakistan would carry the same significance as Turkish involvement.

Forces ready for 'immediate deployment'

The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) have completed all preparations for sending troops to the Gaza Stability Force, with units ready to be assembled modularly upon request.

"We have prepared every type of unit that might be needed. The moment they say 'send the units that will serve,' we will immediately form a unit modularly," security sources said.

Türkiye's status as a ceasefire guarantor makes its participation essential, the sources argued: "As one of the guarantor countries of the ceasefire, we need to be there."

The sources highlighted that Ankara's participation in Gaza peacekeeping has broader international support beyond the United States, though specific countries were not detailed beyond the mentioned potential participants from Muslim-majority nations.

According to information obtained by Türkiye Today, the Turkish Armed Forces has been actively working to assign soldiers to the Gaza Task Group for some time, though no details have been shared on which military branches would be assigned to the Turkish Task Force for Gaza.

Turkish military focuses on four key technologies

Beyond Gaza preparations, security sources outlined TAF's strategic focus on four main areas for future military development, adapting to evolving technology and changing warfare tactics:

  • Air defense systems: Türkiye is advancing rapidly in this area, with everyone working intensively to achieve goals planned under the Steel Dome system. Aselsan and the Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) recently signed a ₺6.5 billion ($152.7M) agreement. Construction of the TF-2000 air defense frigate, which will be part of this system, has begun at Istanbul Shipyard Command.
  • Unmanned systems: The process that began with UAVs continues with unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) and unmanned surface vehicles (USV), with Türkiye's achievements in this field already evident.
  • Missile technologies: Roketsan is advancing rapidly in this area, with hypersonic missile production set to become the primary focus in the coming period.
  • AI-supported systems: These systems will reduce soldiers' battlefield burden through technological developments and artificial intelligence integration.

"In the coming period, our army will focus on four main points," the sources explained, emphasizing how Turkish Armed Forces is shaping its strategy according to Turkish defense industry achievements and technology-driven warfare evolution.
