Türkiye’s ruling AK Party spokesperson Omer Celik on Friday strongly condemned Israel’s plan to issue tenders for new illegal settlement housing in another part of the occupied West Bank, saying the move would effectively divide the territory and isolate East Jerusalem.

Celik, who is also deputy chair of the AK Party, said in a post on NSosyal that Israel’s expansion of illegal settlements was aimed at depriving Palestinians of a state.

“We strongly condemn Israel’s plan to issue tenders for the construction of new occupier-settler housing in another part of the occupied West Bank,” Celik said. “This aggression aims to effectively divide the West Bank into two and isolate East Jerusalem.”

He said the move was also intended to undermine the prospect of a two-state solution.

Celik calls E1 plan ‘new and dangerous stage’

Celik described Israel’s E1 plan in the West Bank as a “new and dangerous stage” in what he called violence against Palestinians.

He accused the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of pursuing a policy aimed at what he described as the “Gaza-ization” of the West Bank.

“Israel’s aggression aimed at rendering Palestinians stateless by expanding illegal settlements is spatial genocide,” Celik said.

He argued that the terms “settlement” and “settler” were inappropriate, describing the policy instead as occupation, theft and violence.

Celik said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had for years drawn international attention to the issue by repeatedly asking, including at the U.N., “Where are Israel’s borders?”

Calls for joint international action

Celik accused Israel of violating the rules of the international community and said its actions affected not only Gaza and the West Bank but the wider international system.

“Israel’s steps target not only Gaza and the West Bank, but all humanity and the rules,” he said.

He called on countries to oppose what he described as occupation and illegal settlement expansion and to take joint and concrete action against Israel’s policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.
