The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar said in a joint statement on Monday that they condemned “in the strongest terms” what they described as illegal Israeli decisions and measures in the occupied West Bank.

The ministers said the measures were aimed at imposing unlawful Israeli sovereignty, entrenching settlement activity and enforcing what they called a new legal and administrative reality in the occupied West Bank, which they said would accelerate attempts at illegal annexation and the displacement of the Palestinian people.

They said Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory.

The statement was issued in Islamabad on Monday.

Warning over settlement activity and expansionist policies

The ministers warned against what they called continued expansionist Israeli policies and illegal measures pursued by the Israeli government in the occupied West Bank, saying they fuel violence and conflict in the region.

They said they absolutely reject the actions, calling them a blatant violation of international law that undermines the two-state solution and constitutes an assault on what they described as the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.

They said the measures also undermine ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the region.

Citing UN resolutions and ICJ advisory opinion

The ministers said the measures in the occupied West Bank are null and void and constitute a clear violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2334.

They said the resolution condemns Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character and status of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

They also referred to the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, saying it found Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territory and its continued presence to be illegal, affirmed the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation, and the nullity of the annexation of occupied Palestinian lands.

Call for international action and 2-state solution

The ministers renewed calls on the international community to fulfill what they described as legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel to halt what they called a dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank and the inciting statements of its officials.

They said fulfillment of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and statehood, based on the two-state solution in line with resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, remains the only path to achieving what they described as a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
