Türkiye's Ambassador to Doha Mustafa Goksu said his country and Qatar are working to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as soon as possible, following Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's visit to the Gulf state.
Speaking to a state-owned Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent about the visit on Friday, Ambassador Goksu said Türkiye and Qatar have increased their humanitarian and diplomatic initiatives to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
"Türkiye and Qatar are working to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as soon as possible," Goksu said.
Goksu said Fidan's meetings in Doha with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani addressed recent developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as developments in Syria and the regional situation.
The ambassador said the visit reflected both countries' determination to play an active role in resolving regional problems and their leaders' resolve to work together for regional security and stability.
Goksu emphasized that Türkiye and Qatar support the Palestinian people, aim to end hunger in Gaza, and view the two-state solution as a strategic peace goal.
The ambassador said Türkiye has appreciated Qatar's effective role in humanitarian aid and peace efforts since the beginning of the crisis.
Goksu stated that Ankara condemns the genocide taking place in Gaza, holds Israel responsible for all crimes committed, and calls on the international community to take urgent action to stop these violations and force perpetrators to be held accountable.
Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus condemned Israel's decision to separate the West Bank from East Jerusalem, calling it an illegal plan that violates international law.
"The treacherous plan of occupying Israel to separate the West Bank from East Jerusalem is an open attack that ignores international law, United Nations decisions, targets Palestine's territorial integrity and is part of the genocide plan. We reject this unlawful decision in the strongest terms," Kurtulmus said in a statement.
Kurtulmus emphasized Palestinian territorial rights in his statement: "The lands where the Palestinian people live are indisputable ancestral lands, their homeland. Decisions made without the will of the Palestinian people can never be accepted."
"A fully independent, territorially integrated and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders will definitely be established," he added.
"Regardless of today's conditions, the Palestinian flag will wave in the skies of free Palestine as soon as possible. As Türkiye, we will continue to support the just struggle of the Palestinian people to the end," he noted.
Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesman Omer Celik said Israel's plan to build settlements separating the West Bank from East Jerusalem is a continuation of "cursed genocide actions."
Writing on his Next Social account, Celik reacted to Israel's settlement plan aimed at separating the West Bank from East Jerusalem.
"Israel's plan to build settlements that will separate the West Bank from East Jerusalem is a continuation of the cursed genocide actions. At a time when the front of humanity is making successive decisions to recognize the Palestinian state, Israel is once again attacking the front of humanity and targeting the territorial integrity of the Palestinian state," Celik wrote.
Celik emphasized continued support for Palestinian independence by stating: "We will continue to struggle for the realization of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with geographical integrity, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders."
