Türkiye has sent three trucks loaded with medical aid materials and devices to Iran through the Gurbulak Border Gate in Dogubayazit, Agri, the Health Ministry said, after Iranian officials indicated that the ongoing war had created a need for support in the health sector.
Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu announced that aid trucks carrying medical materials and equipment had set off for neighboring Iran. In a statement, the ministry said the shipment was prepared after coordination with Iranian authorities and includes medicines, medical consumables and critical medical devices gathered from multiple provinces across Türkiye.
According to the ministry, three trucks carrying 60 pallets of medical aid were dispatched toward the Gurbulak Border Gate in Agri's Dogubayazit district for delivery to Iran.
The shipment was organized as part of work carried out by the Health Ministry.
Memisoglu said the trucks loaded with medical materials and devices had departed for Iran and said Türkiye would continue mobilizing all available means for those in need of healing.
In his statement, he said Türkiye represents a civilization of goodwill that always turns its direction toward brotherhood and healing, and said the country would continue supporting the oppressed, healing wounds and fostering hope across its wider region with a "people first" approach.
The ministry said the process followed an official meeting held at the end of March with Iran's ambassador to Ankara, Mohammad Hasan Habibullahzade.
According to the statement, it became clear during that meeting that the Islamic Republic of Iran needed support in the field of health because of the ongoing war.
After the necessary coordination was carried out, Iranian authorities provided a list of needs.
The ministry said medicines, medical consumables and medical devices were gathered with the contributions of provincial health directorates and hospitals across Türkiye.
The supplies were obtained from many provinces, especially Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa and Erzincan, then transported by truck and other vehicles to a designated center where they were collected together.
More than 200 aid boxes were prepared, and the shipment process was completed in a short time, the statement said.
The ministry said the aid includes 70 types of medicine, 33 types of medical consumables and 240 types of medical devices.
Among the devices being sent to Iran are X-ray machines, ultrasound equipment, ventilators, ECG devices, defibrillators, aspirators, infusion pumps and bedside monitors.
The shipment also includes basic health equipment such as blood pressure monitors, temperature measuring devices and IV stands.
The ministry said the convoy was assembled under its coordination and sent out after the requested items had been identified by Iranian officials.
