Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Fikrim Damka said Friday that the Balkans remains a sensitive region prone to instability, stressing that Türkiye plays a key role in maintaining balance through its regional engagement.
"In a region encompassing Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Kosovo, the environment can easily shift toward crisis. Türkiye plays a consistently constructive role here; thanks to the close, friendly relations between our leaders and ministers, the Balkans remains stable today. Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts are vital, and I believe their excellent steps toward preserving regional stability will continue," he said.
Damka spoke to Anadolu Agency during his visit to Antalya, where he attended the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF).
Recalling that Türkiye was among the first countries to recognize Kosovo, Damka said relations between the two sides remain strong across institutions.
Emphasizing that ties resemble those between “two brotherly countries,” he noted that many Kosovars live in Türkiye, while Turkish citizens and people of Turkish origin reside in Kosovo.
Damka said cooperation has recently intensified in two main areas: the defense industry and economic relations.
“Our relations in the defense industry show concrete examples. One of them is the ammunition factory to be jointly established in Kosovo with the Machinery and Chemical Industry. At the same time, all our cooperation in the defense industry has become more intensive in this period,” he said.
He added that bilateral ties also extend to economic, cultural and sports fields.
Noting that this was his fifth participation in the ADF, Damka described the forum as an increasingly important international platform.
“The ADF, which is growing every day, is becoming an important center. In fact, it is becoming the center of diplomacy. Important meetings are taking place, and alongside these meetings, we can see leaders making significant statements.
These will broaden our vision, develop our cooperation, and by meeting ministers from different countries, we both promote Kosovo and take steps to improve relations with them,” he said.
Damka also congratulated and thanked the organizers for hosting the forum.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, hosted by Türkiye, brings together heads of state, ministers and policymakers to discuss geopolitical, economic and security challenges in an increasingly uncertain international landscape.
