A senior United Arab Emirates official on Wednesday called for a unified Gulf response following renewed attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain that were blamed on Iran, saying the security of Gulf states is interconnected and that no country should face such threats alone.
Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, made the remarks in a post on X amid growing regional tensions following attacks targeting the two Gulf countries.
“In light of Iran's repeated aggression against the brotherly states of Kuwait and Bahrain, a firm, unified and cohesive Gulf stance is imperative,” Gargash said.
He stressed that no member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) should be left to confront attacks on its own.
“No Gulf state should be left to face these attacks alone, because the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states is interconnected, their interests are shared, and their destiny is one and the same,” he said.
The GCC comprises six Gulf Arab countries that cooperate on political, economic and security issues.
Gargash said the attacks were not directed at a single country but at the Gulf region as a whole.
“This aggression does not just target one country, it targets us all,” he said.
His comments came after renewed attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain that were blamed on Iran.
The UAE official called for Gulf countries to adopt a united and coordinated position in response, emphasizing shared security interests and collective responsibility among GCC member states.
