Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday accused the United Arab Emirates of playing an active and direct role in the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.

Araghchi made the remarks while attending the meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS countries in New Delhi, according to a post on his official Telegram channel.

“The UAE is an active partner in this aggression, and there is no doubt about it,” Araghchi said.

He said it had become clear that the UAE participated in attacks against Iran and “may have even acted directly” against Tehran.

Araghchi says UAE territory used in attacks

Araghchi accused the UAE of allowing its territory to be used in military action against Iran.

“I must say that the UAE was directly involved in the act of aggression against my country,” he said. “They allowed their territory to be used to fire artillery and equipment against us,” Araghchi added.

The Iranian foreign minister also criticized the UAE’s relations with Israel, which Abu Dhabi normalized in 2020.

“Your alliance with the Israelis did not protect you either,” Araghchi said.

Araghchi also referred to what Israel described as a “secret” meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi has denied that such a visit took place.
