The United Arab Emirates said Saturday it intercepted 15 ballistic missiles and 119 drones amid an expanding war with Iran.
“UAE air defense systems detected today, Saturday 7th March 2026, 16 ballistic missiles, of which 15 were intercepted and destroyed, while one ballistic missile fell into the sea,” the UAE Ministry of Defence said in a post on X.
“Air defense systems also detected 121 UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), of which 119 were intercepted, while two fell within the territory of the UAE,” the statement added.
Iran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel and Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets since Feb. 28.
Some of the attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential buildings.
Tehran says the strikes are in response to a U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran that has killed hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials.
