Allies close to U.S. President Donald Trump have warned Israeli officials that they risk losing American support if the war in Gaza does not come to an end, The Washington Post reported Monday.

“Trump’s people are letting Israel know, ‘We will abandon you if you do not end this war,’” a source familiar with the discussions told the newspaper.

According to the report, the source said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has the political means to end the war but lacks the will to do so.

Netanyahu is also said to be under pressure from Trump, who excluded Israel from its itinerary during his Middle East tour, to letting humanitarian aid in to the Gaza Strip.

Trump cuts direct contact with Netanyahu

Netanyahu, acknowledging that Israel’s allies “cannot handle pictures of mass starvation,” has reportedly allowed minimal aid deliveries into Gaza. The source noted that the Israeli leader “sold the idea of resuming aid in the Sunday night cabinet meeting by saying it was only a technicality.”

The reported warning from Trump’s circle comes amid mounting tension between Washington and Tel Aviv. Trump is said to have cut direct contact with Netanyahu, believing he is being manipulated.

Further signaling the strain in relations, U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have both recently canceled or postponed planned visits to Israel.
