The Trump administration has presented Iran with a written nuclear deal proposal during the fourth round of talks in Oman, marking a significant development in the renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.

According to U.S. news platform Axios, citing an unnamed American official and two sources directly connected to the matter, the Trump administration delivered the formal written proposal to Iranian officials during meetings held in Oman on May 11.

White House Special Representative Steve Witkoff presented the formal written offer to Iranian officials, the first such document submitted since negotiations began in early April.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly received the proposal during the Oman discussions and brought it back to Tehran for consultations, according to the report.

The latest talks represent the fourth round of indirect negotiations between the two countries, following previous sessions in Oman on April 12, then in Rome, and again in Oman at weekly intervals. Both Iran and the United States have indicated progress in the negotiations.

The renewed diplomatic effort began after President Donald Trump, who unilaterally withdrew the United States from the nuclear agreement in 2018, sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in March. The letter reportedly contained both a direct call for nuclear negotiations and threats. Iran responded to this communication through Omani intermediaries.

A key sticking point in the negotiations centers on uranium enrichment limits. Iran is seeking sanctions relief in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program that would prevent it from producing atomic weapons. While U.S. officials had previously indicated they would accept low-level uranium enrichment by Iran, they have recently demanded that Tehran halt uranium enrichment at all levels.

Iranian officials maintain that low-level uranium enrichment activities are non-negotiable.
