Gunfire targeted a joint patrol of Syrian security forces and U.S. troops near the city of Palmyra on Saturday, injuring several personnel on both sides, Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reported.
The attack wounded two Syrian security personnel and an unspecified number of U.S. forces, according to the report, which cited a security source. The assailant was killed at the scene.
According to the report, the soldiers were taking part in a "joint patrol" in Palmyra, which was once under the control of the Daesh terror group.
