Yemen's army carried out 1,292 operations against Iran-backed Houthi targets over 24 hours, reporting that more than 430 fighters were killed or wounded as government forces advanced east of Marib.

The offensive, part of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation, targeted Houthi military positions, defensive sites, fortifications, trenches, firing positions, reserve troop assembly areas, and transport and supply vehicles, according to a statement from the Yemeni Armed Forces.

The army also reported destroying or rendering unusable more than 100 military vehicles and pieces of equipment during the operations.

Government forces advanced east of Marib

Government troops expanded their advance along Marib's eastern front, captured new positions and took control of several elevated points, the army reported.

Intensive fire support and strikes against Houthi targets helped troops push forward and created conditions for further advances, according to the statement.

On the southern and western fronts, government forces increased military pressure on the Houthis and continued operations aimed at weakening the group's capabilities.

The Yemeni army also reported that government troops and the Popular Resistance Forces captured several Houthi field commanders. Authorities handled the detainees under applicable military and legal procedures.

Army warned against Houthi recruitment of children

The Yemeni army urged residents in Houthi-controlled areas to protect their children from recruitment into the group's ranks, including through force or recruitment campaigns.

It also called on families not to send their children to areas where the Houthis were fighting.

Iran-backed Houthis had controlled the capital, Sanaa, and parts of Yemen since September 2014. A Saudi Arabia-led coalition had supported the Yemeni government in its fight against the group since March 2015.

Fighting intensified in the mountainous Taiz province after Houthi attacks began last month from the Red Sea coastal province of Hudaydah toward Taiz, with clashes continuing toward the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
