Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a major government reshuffle Sunday, saying Ukraine would update its political strategy and renew the Cabinet of Ministers, including the proposed replacement of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Zelenskyy said in a post on the U.S.-based social media platform X that personnel changes would begin in Ukraine to ensure the implementation of the new strategy.

He said the changes would also include the heads of some law enforcement agencies.

“I am grateful to Yuliia for her clear, steady, and effective work as Prime Minister, for her years of productive service on Ukraine’s team; and I have offered her the opportunity to lead a new and important area of relations with a key partner,” Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy says Ukraine is changing political strategy

Zelenskyy said Ukraine is changing its political strategy and assigning each priority area of foreign policy to a specific person with substantial experience.

He said those officials would be responsible for implementing what is agreed at the leaders’ level and what the Ukrainian people expect.

The priority areas include the United States, including agreements on licenses to manufacture Patriot systems, as well as other bilateral security cooperation.

Zelenskyy said those agreements must translate into clear gains for Ukraine, the U.S. and companies in both countries.

He also named the European antiballistic project, which he said could become one of the most significant steps to strengthen Europe this decade.

US, EU, neighbors and Gulf among foreign policy priorities

Zelenskyy said Ukraine also needs clear progress toward European Union membership and deeper ties with the bloc in economic, political and cultural areas.

He said relations with Ukraine’s neighboring countries require a new foundation, especially ties with Poland and Hungary.

The Middle East and Gulf region were also listed among the priority areas, with Zelenskyy describing the region as one of the most promising global directions for security and economic cooperation.

He also named China and key international organizations that influence global decisions and can do more to help end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Domestic work to focus on frontline regions, weapons and winter

Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s domestic work also faces new challenges and tasks.

He said all work in Ukraine’s frontline and border regions, which come under Russian attack every day, must be significantly strengthened.

Zelenskyy said he expects increased supplies of weapons needed by the Ukrainian army, including all types of drones.

He also said preparing for winter is an extremely important priority and that Ukraine must be ready for every threat that may arise.

Cabinet renewal and law enforcement changes planned

Zelenskyy said the transformation of state-owned companies, on which Ukraine’s resilience significantly depends, must be accelerated.

He also said Ukraine’s agreements with partners on recovery require separate and focused attention.

Zelenskyy said he discussed the details with Svyrydenko and determined that the changes require a renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“I expect that, together with MPs, we will make the corresponding changes in the Government of Ukraine,” he said.

“There will also be changes among the heads of law enforcement agencies,” Zelenskyy added.

He thanked everyone helping Ukraine and everyone defending the country’s national interests.
