Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab has officially parted ways with veteran Turkish coach Fatih Terim, following the appointment of Spanish manager Imanol Alguacil. The club marked Terim's departure with a video tribute, acknowledging his impact during his time at the helm.
In its statement, the Riyadh-based club emphasized that while many coaches come and go, only a few leave a lasting impression beyond the pitch.
“Many coaches pass through a team, but only a few leave a mark that goes beyond the field. Terim was a perfect example of a coach who left a beautiful legacy with his presence and ethics. Thank you, Emperor Fatih Terim,” the video caption read..
Terim, who is often referred to as “Imparator” (Emperor) in Türkiye due to his longstanding legacy in Turkish football, took charge of Al Shabab for 23 matches. Under his leadership, the team secured 12 wins, drew 4 times, and suffered 7 losses. At the end of the season, Al Shabab finished sixth in the Saudi Pro League with a total of 60 points.
Al Shabab recently announced Imanol Alguacil as its new head coach, signaling a new direction for the club. Alguacil’s appointment brings Terim’s tenure to a close, which lasted through one full campaign. While the club did not renew Terim’s contract, the farewell video suggests a mutual and respectful parting.
Fatih Terim, 71, is one of the most prominent figures in Turkish football, with a career that includes managing Türkiye's national team and winning multiple league titles with Galatasaray.
