Alperen Sengun adds 21 points in Rockets’ home win over Pelicans

Turkish center Alperen Sengun played a key role in the Houston Rockets’ 119-110 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night in the NBA, contributing 21 points in a balanced team effort.

Sengun finished the game with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, five steals and one block, continuing his strong season for Houston.

The Rockets were led in scoring by Jabari Smith, who poured in 32 points, while Amen Thompson added 20. Kevin Durant also contributed 18 points for Houston.

Durant moves past Nowitzki on scoring list

Late in the game, Durant reached a historic milestone. With 15 seconds remaining, he needed just one point to surpass Dirk Nowitzki on the NBA’s all-time regular-season scoring list.

Durant calmly converted both free throws to reach 31,562 career points, moving ahead of Nowitzki’s 31,560. The 15-time All-Star now has his sights set on Michael Jordan, who sits fifth on the list with 32,292 points.

Despite the loss, the Pelicans received solid performances from Trey Murphy, who scored 21 points, and Zion Williamson, who finished with 20.

Lakers secure home win behind star trio

In another NBA matchup, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Toronto Raptors 110-93 at home.

The Lakers’ victory was powered by a combined 74 points from Luka Dončić, who scored 25, LeBron James, who added 24, and Deandre Ayton, who also finished with 25.

Toronto was led by Scottie Barnes with 22 points, while Sandro Mamukelashvili contributed 20 in the losing effort.
