Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler has received UEFA's Breakthrough Player award for the 2025/26 Champions League after standing out across the competition.
Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler received the Breakthrough Player award for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League before his team's match against Inter at the Santiago Bernabeu.
UEFA's technical observer group selected Guler for the honor after recognizing his performances and progress throughout the previous Champions League campaign.
The midfielder featured in 14 Champions League matches for Real Madrid, starting 13 of them, as he established himself as a regular part of the Spanish side's European campaign.
Guler scored twice, with both goals coming in the second leg of Real Madrid's quarterfinal against Bayern, while he also set up three goals for his teammates.
His performances also brought individual recognition earlier in the tournament, when he was named MVP, or Most Valuable Player, in Real Madrid's group-stage victory against Juventus.
UEFA created the Breakthrough Player award to replace its previous Young Player of the Champions League honor.
The award is designed to recognize players who make notable progress and stand out over the course of a Champions League campaign.
