Arda Turan and Fatih Terim have emerged as leading candidates to take over Türkiye's national football team following the departure of Italian coach Vincenzo Montella, according to reports from beIN Sports.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF), the country's governing football body, is considering both coaches for the vacant position, although its board members reportedly hold differing views on who should take charge.
According to beIN Sports reporter Tayfun Akkaya, Turan and Terim are among the most prominent names being discussed as Türkiye looks to appoint a new head coach.
Turan's potential appointment had already attracted attention in Italy, where La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Oct. 8 that he was the leading candidate to replace Montella.
The former Turkish international began his managerial career at Eyupspor before moving on to Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk.
His experience at the club level has now placed him among the candidates being considered for Türkiye's national team.
Alongside Turan, Fatih Terim has emerged as another prominent contender for the national team position.
However, the TFF board reportedly remains divided over the two candidates, with differing opinions on the direction the national team should take following Montella's departure.
The coaching change comes after Türkiye fell short of expectations in the UEFA Nations League, bringing renewed attention to the team's leadership.
The federation is expected to continue evaluating its options, with no final appointment announced in the reports.
