Aryna Sabalenka moved into the quarterfinals of the French Open after beating Japan's Naomi Osaka in straight sets, as several leading names also booked their places in the men's draw at Roland Garros.
Sabalenka, the top seed in the women's singles draw and a four-time Grand Slam champion from Belarus, defeated 16th seed Osaka 7-5, 6-3.
The result carried Sabalenka into the quarterfinals, keeping her run alive at one of tennis' most prestigious tournaments.
Osaka, representing Japan, pushed the opening set close, but Sabalenka held on before taking control in the second set to close out the match 2-0.
In the men's singles competition, fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada also reached the quarterfinals after seeing off Chile's Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets.
Auger-Aliassime won 6-3, 7-5, 6-1, moving through with a 3-0 victory.
Italy's Matteo Berrettini followed up with another straight-sets win, defeating Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3, 7-6, 7-6 to take his place in the last eight.
Another Italian, 10th seed Flavio Cobolli, also made it through after overcoming American player Zachary Svajda in four sets. Cobolli won 6-2, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, completing a 3-1 victory to reach the quarterfinals.
