World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka moved into the U.S. Open semifinals after overcoming Czech sixth seed Linda Noskova in three sets, keeping alive her bid for a third consecutive title in New York.
The Belarusian came through a closely fought quarterfinal 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 in two hours and 22 minutes on Tuesday, securing her place among the final four players in the women's singles draw.
Sabalenka, who has won the season's final Grand Slam tournament in each of the past two years, took the opening set in a tiebreak before Noskova fought back to level the match by claiming the second set 6-3.
With the contest going down to a deciding set, Sabalenka again came through a tiebreak to close out the match and continue her title defense.
The victory keeps Sabalenka in contention to win the U.S. Open for a third consecutive year.
She will take on the winner of the quarterfinal between Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro for a place in the final.
