Barcelona beat Racing Santander 7-2 on Wednesday to open a season with seven consecutive victories for the first time in the club's history, extending their remarkable scoring run to 33 goals in seven matches.
Joao Cancelo set the tone in the eighth minute with a long-range strike before Raphinha doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 25th minute.
Racing Santander pulled one back through Maguette Gueye five minutes later, but Barcelona quickly rebuilt their two-goal cushion when another Cancelo effort from distance took a deflection off Asier Villalibre and went down as an own goal.
Raphinha converted another penalty in the 42nd minute for his second goal of the night, sending Barcelona into halftime with a 4-1 lead.
The Catalan side, based in Barcelona in northeastern Spain, could have added another before the break after being awarded a further penalty, but Lamine Yamal failed to convert.
Racing Santander cut the deficit to 4-2 through Yassir Zabiri in the 65th minute, although their response was quickly cancelled out when Raphinha converted another penalty a minute later to complete his hat trick.
Barcelona continued to pull away in the closing stages as Gabriel Jesus made it 6-2 in the 79th minute, before Yamal made up for his earlier penalty miss by scoring the seventh goal in the 89th.
The result took Barcelona's tally to 33 goals from their opening seven matches, leaving them with an average of nearly five goals per game during their perfect start.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Atletico Madrid beat Osasuna 4-0, while Sevilla picked up a 1-0 away victory over Deportivo La Coruna.
