Türkiye's Besiktas has reached an agreement with English club Leicester City for the transfer of Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, following its elimination from the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.
Besiktas, which suffered back-to-back defeats against Shakhtar Donetsk (4-2 and 2-0), is working to rebuild its squad. The club has offered €9.5 million ($11 million) for Ndidi, a fee reportedly accepted by Leicester City.
English journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed that Besiktas has also agreed to personal terms with Ndidi, beating competition from several clubs across England and Europe.
According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Besiktas and the 27-year-old midfielder have reached a principal agreement on a three-year contract with an optional fourth year. Club-to-club negotiations are also said to be complete.
Ndidi is expected to arrive in Türkiye soon for a medical and to sign his official contract.
Ndidi played 30 matches for Leicester City last season, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
Known for his defensive abilities and work rate, the Nigerian international is seen as a key addition to strengthen Besiktas’s midfield.
