Besiktas will face Danish club Midtjylland in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, following the draw held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The UEFA Europa League is European football's second-tier club competition, and the qualifying rounds are early knockout stages that decide which clubs move forward in the tournament.

The two matches in this round will be played on July 23 and July 30.

Danish test ahead for Besiktas

Midtjylland finished second in the Danish league last season and will now take on Besiktas for a place in the next stage of the competition.

The Danish side also includes Türkiye national footballer Aral Simsir, giving the tie an additional point of interest for Turkish football followers.

The draw also produced several other matchups across Europe. Hammarby of Sweden was paired with Belgium's Anderlecht, while Norway's Tromso will face Czech side Viktoria Plzen.

Swiss club St. Gallen was drawn against Benfica of Portugal, while Sheriff or Aluminij will take on Maccabi Tel Aviv. Dinamo Kiev or Universitatea Cluj will meet PAOK, and Vojvodina or Ferencvaros will face Twente.

Other listed ties include Hajduk Split or Zilina against Pafos, as well as Qarabag or Vestri against CSKA Sofia or Derry City.

The first matches are scheduled for July 23, with the return legs set for July 30.
