Besiktas GAIN finished the BKT EuroCup season as runners-up after losing 73-71 to French side Cosea JL Bourg in the second game of the final series, which handed Bourg a 2-0 series victory and the championship.
Besiktas, one of Türkiye’s leading sports clubs, had gone into the away game needing a win to keep the series alive after losing the opening match in Istanbul 72-60.
JL Bourg opened the game with a stronger attacking rhythm and built an early lead, ending the first quarter 25-17 ahead. Besiktas, however, settled into the game in the second period and pulled the score level midway through the quarter.
The black-and-white side then put together an 11-0 run late in the first half, turning the momentum around and going into the break with a narrow 40-38 lead.
Besiktas carried that rhythm into the third quarter and briefly stretched the gap, but JL Bourg responded and moved back in front before the final period.
In the closing seconds, Besiktas tied the game at 71-71 through Mathews’ three-pointer with 15 seconds left. Bourg then used the final possession effectively, with Mokoka scoring a layup with one second remaining to seal a 73-71 win.
With the result, JL Bourg claimed the EuroCup title, while Besiktas GAIN completed its European campaign in second place.
