Besiktas was knocked out of European competition after losing 1-0 at home to Swiss side Lausanne in the UEFA Conference League playoff round second leg on Thursday, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
The Istanbul club was reduced to 10 men in the 46th minute when Uduokhai received a direct red card from referee Jakob Kehlet for a sliding tackle on Lausanne’s Soppy near the left sideline of midfield.
In the 57th minute, Diakite lost control of the ball while entering the penalty area from the left. After Ndidi’s mistake, Lekoueiry found the ball in front of the six-yard box, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Mert Gunok.
In the 64th minute, a free kick by Orkun Kokcu found Ndidi, whose header into the box from the right diagonal missed the target as Abraham could not reach it.
Four minutes later, Lekoueiry’s placement shot from just outside the box on a slight right-diagonal position was punched away by Gunok.
In the 85th minute, Lausanne launched a counterattack, with Ajdini’s shot from the left diagonal of the penalty area deflecting off Kokcu and going narrowly for a corner.
The match ended 1-0, sealing Besiktas’ elimination from the tournament.
