Besiktas has yet to apply to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for Leandro Trossard's player license, leaving the Belgian forward outside the club's UEFA squad despite completing his transfer last month.
The club officially announced Trossard's arrival on July 15. After returning from the World Cup, he traveled to Istanbul, underwent medical checks, signed his contract and went on holiday before joining team training on Monday.
According to Milliyet, Besiktas had not submitted an official license application for Trossard by midday Monday. As a result, the player could not be added to the squad list filed with UEFA for the club's upcoming European qualifier.
Trossard became the second Belgian player in Besiktas history following his move to the Istanbul club.
The delay has raised questions over whether Besiktas may have run into registration limits, although the report did not confirm the reason behind the missing application.
Besiktas still has an opportunity to bring Trossard into its European squad. The club can register the player until 24 hours before the first match, provided that all official procedures are completed in time.
The Black and Whites moved on to face Czech side Hradec Kralove after knocking out Midtjylland in UEFA Europa League qualifying.
