Besiktas appears to have found its long-sought winger in Spain. According to Spanish media, the Istanbul club is nearing a deal to sign Girona’s Colombian right winger Yaser Asprilla, after several weeks of negotiations.
With ambitions to start the upcoming season strongly, Besiktas has set its sights on reinforcing its attacking flanks. Reports indicate that Eduard Graf, the club’s chief scout, has been in contact with Asprilla’s representatives for weeks. Discussions have focused on reducing the 21-year-old’s high financial demands, with alternative deal structures being explored.
Despite winning two domestic trophies over the past two seasons, Besiktas has struggled to establish consistency in the league. The club has gone through four head coaches and three presidents during this period, highlighting a turbulent chapter in its recent history.
According to Turkish sports daily Fotomac, Besiktas head Serdal Adali personally traveled to Spain to finalize the deal. The club is reportedly working to secure Asprilla on a loan with a purchase option.
Asprilla, who played 27 league matches last season, registered three goals and one assist. His current market value is estimated at €18 million ($20.31 million). Girona is believed to be open to transferring the young Colombian for a fee in the €15 million– €20 million range.
On the international stage, Asprilla has scored two goals in eight appearances for the Colombian national team.
