Besiktas announced Monday it has reached a preliminary agreement with English right-back Kyle Walker-Peters as the Istanbul club continues its aggressive summer transfer push.
Walker-Peters, currently a free agent, is set to join the Turkish side pending a medical examination in Istanbul, the club said in a statement published on its official website.
“Our club has reached a preliminary agreement with professional footballer Kyle Walker-Peters,” the statement read. “Details regarding the contract to be signed after the player's medical in Istanbul will be shared with the public through our official communication channels.”"
Besiktas also rejected speculation surrounding the terms of the deal, saying, “All contract details related to the Walker-Peters transfer being circulated in the media and on social platforms are completely unfounded.”
The 27-year-old defender is expected to be the latest addition to a squad already bolstered by summer signings David Jurasek, Tammy Abraham, and Orkun Kokcu.
Meanwhile Kokcu, a 24-year-old Turkish international midfielder, officially joined Besiktas on Sunday in a move that marked a return to his boyhood club. The signing was celebrated at Tupras Stadium in front of 20,000 fans.
Besiktas secured Kokcu on loan from Portuguese club Benfica with an option to buy. If exercised, the deal will convert into a four-year permanent contract.
