Besiktas has added Brazilian winger David Neres to its transfer wishlist and has opened talks over a possible move for the Napoli player.

Besiktas, one of the most active clubs of the current transfer window, has already strengthened its attack this summer by signing Leandro Trossard and, most recently, Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic. With that business done, the Istanbul club turned its attention to the right wing and found what it was looking for in Italy.

According to reports, Besiktas is interested in Neres for the right-wing role and has begun contacts over a possible transfer for the 29-year-old Brazilian. The club has reached out to Napoli, whose star signed from Benfica for €28 million in the summer of 2024, with Napoli reportedly expecting revenue in excess of €20 million from a sale.

Player scored 10 goals in past season

Neres made 25 official appearances for Napoli last season, contributing six goals and four assists. His current market value is listed at €23 million, and his contract with the Italian club runs until 2028.

Neres began his professional career at São Paulo before moving to European football with Ajax in 2017.

He spent five seasons with the Dutch club, scoring 47 goals in 180 official matches for Ajax. He later played for Shakhtar Donetsk before joining Benfica and then moved to Napoli in a permanent transfer in August 2024.

Neres has made eight appearances for the Brazil national team, scoring one goal. Known for his pace, dribbling in tight spaces, and ability in one-on-one situations, he can play on either flank of the attack.

Other reports indicate Cruzeiro has also shown interest in the experienced winger and that Napoli could be open to a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause if it does not receive the fee it is seeking.

Separately, Brazilian media have suggested Besiktas is also interested in Gabriel Mec, a player who has also been linked with Galatasaray.
