Besiktas has submitted an official €10 million ($11.7 million) offer to Brazilian club Flamengo for center-back Leo Pereira as the Istanbul side steps up efforts to reshape its squad ahead of the new season.
The Black and Whites, a widely used nickname referring to Besiktas' traditional club colors, are now waiting for Flamengo to respond to the proposal for the 30-year-old Brazilian defender.
Besiktas has been looking to strengthen its back line as part of a broader squad restructuring process and has turned to Pereira, who currently plays for Flamengo.
According to Brazilian journalist Vene Casagrande, the Turkish club formally put forward a €10 million offer for the defender. No response from Flamengo has been reported yet.
Besiktas Football Director Onder Ozen also confirmed that Pereira was among the players being considered by the club.
Speaking at a press conference, Ozen said: "Leo Pereira is one of the players who could be on our list. There are also names the coach has previously worked with. A certain stage has been reached with him as well."
