Türkiye international midfielder Salih Ozcan arrived in Istanbul following Besiktas' announcement of a principled agreement with the player, though formal contract signatures remain contingent on upcoming transfer talks and medical checks.
Club officials and a passionate crowd of Besiktas supporters greeted Ozcan at the Istanbul Airport International Arrivals Terminal, where he wore a club scarf, flashed the traditional "eagle" gesture for photographers, and led fans in a spirited "uclu" chant.
Speaking to reporters after his arrival, the 28-year-old said he was very happy and had been waiting eagerly for the day. He described becoming part of Besiktas as a source of pride and said he was looking forward to stepping onto the pitch.
"We will fight for the club. We want to become champions and go to the Champions League," Ozcan said.
Ozcan also spoke about the prospect of playing alongside Orkun Kokcu, saying he felt comfortable next to him on the pitch.
He said the two players help each other and that he feels good about the partnership.
The official signing is expected to take place after further transfer talks and medical examinations.
Ozcan developed in Germany through the youth systems of SC West Koln and Koln, and most recently played for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. He also represented Türkiye at the FIFA 2026 World Cup.
