WWE star Brie Bella suffered an apparent shoulder injury during SummerSlam 2026's opening night, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque, known as Triple H, confirmed.
The injury occurred during the night's six-person tag match on Aug. 1. Some reports have suggested it may have happened during a spot in which Jacy Jayne dove into Bella against the steel steps, though WWE has not officially confirmed the exact moment it occurred.
Bella began favoring her right shoulder during the match, in which she and Nikki Bella teamed with Paige against Fatal Influence. She held her arm close to her body and limited her involvement as the match wound down.
Fatal Influence won when Jacy Jayne pinned Paige. The Bella Twins then turned on their partner, though Brie was unable to join the assault, leaving Nikki to deliver the Rack Attack 2.0 alone.
Post-show, Levesque reported that Bella was taken to a local hospital due to the severity of her injury.
"Don't have a clean answer on it yet. I know she hurt her shoulder. Seems pretty bad, but I don't have that answer yet," he said. "Hopefully we will soon, and hopefully it won't be as bad as we thought it was, but that's the nature of the game. It's unfortunately part of our business."
The setback comes at a difficult time for Bella, shortly after her sister Nikki returned from a leg injury that forced her to miss WrestleMania, where Paige substituted in the group.
While the post-match turn on Paige was designed to launch an upcoming rivalry, those plans may now be delayed or altered pending clarification on Brie’s recovery timeline.
