Egypt's Football Association is reportedly considering sending a delegation to Türkiye's northern city of Trabzon to resolve an alleged disagreement between national team captain Mohamed Salah and head coach Hossam Hassan, according to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik.
The reported tensions have sparked debate in Egyptian football, with concerns centering on recent coaching decisions involving the Trabzonspor forward.
Egyptian media professor Dr. Mohammed Tharwat claimed that federation officials are looking to arrange a meeting with Salah in an effort to smooth over differences between the player and the national team's coaching staff.
According to Tharwat, Egyptian Football Association President Hani Abu Rida and executive Mustafa Azzam have become involved in efforts to settle the reported dispute.
The federation is reportedly weighing up a visit to Trabzon, where officials would meet Salah directly and attempt to work through the disagreements.
However, no official decision regarding the proposed delegation has been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether the visit will go ahead.
The reported tensions are believed to stem from tactical decisions made during Egypt's recent international matches, particularly Hassan's decision to substitute Salah against Angola.
Coaching decisions surrounding the match against South Sudan are also said to have added to the disagreement.
Tharwat criticized the decision to take Salah off, arguing that the forward has the ability to change the outcome of a match single-handedly and should play a more prominent role in the national team's plans.
While questions surround his relationship with Egypt's coaching staff, Salah has made a strong start to his Trabzonspor career since joining the Turkish Super Lig club at the beginning of the season.
The Egyptian forward has recorded 10 goals and five assists in 13 official appearances, contributing directly to 15 goals for the Black Sea club, according to Fanatik.
With the proposed federation visit still unconfirmed, Salah's relationship with Hassan and his future role in Egypt's national team remain unresolved.
