German club Eintracht Frankfurt has reportedly expressed concern to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) regarding Can Uzun’s limited involvement in the Turkish national team during the recent World Cup qualifying matches.
In the National Team's 6–1 victory over Bulgaria, Uzun was substituted into the game in the 69th minute and played 21 minutes.
The 19-year-old forward was not included in the squad for the away fixture against Georgia and did not appear in the Spain match either.
Despite being in good form for his club, Uzun’s limited role with the national team has raised questions within Eintracht Frankfurt’s management regarding his use under head coach Vincenzo Montella.
According to the German newspaper Bild, officials from Eintracht Frankfurt have held discussions with TFF about the player’s situation.
The club reportedly requested that Uzun be given more consistent playing time in future matches, emphasizing the importance of international experience for his development.
The same report suggested that Frankfurt expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation and, in extreme terms, hinted at the possibility of not releasing the player for upcoming international fixtures if the issue persisted.
As of Monday, neither the Turkish Football Federation nor coach Vincenzo Montella had issued an official statement regarding the reported discussions.
Montella has previously stated that selection decisions within the national team are made “purely on sporting grounds.”
