Perfect 5-0 group stage run complete as Türkiye beats Serbia 95-90 in EuroBasket 2025

Türkiye's national basketball team delivered a statement victory against Serbia, winning 95-90 in their fifth and final group match at the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Championship. The team completed a flawless 5-0 group stage campaign, securing first place and earning a favorable seeding for the Round of 16.

The victory marked Türkiye's fifth consecutive win in Group A. Team players had consistently mentioned proving medal credentials throughout the preliminary rounds with a 5-0 group stage in EuroBasket 2025.

By finishing atop of the group with an unblemished record, Türkiye positioned themselves advantageously for the knockout stages of the continental tournament.

Sengun's dominant performance against Jokic

Alperen Sengun anchored Türkiye's offensive effort throughout the contest, recording multiple steals and defensive rebounds while consistently finding scoring opportunities. The Houston Rockets center made crucial free throws in the final seconds, converting both attempts with 10 seconds remaining to help seal the victory.

Shane Larkin provided veteran leadership with nine assists, demonstrating his playmaking ability throughout the four quarters. His three-point shooting proved effective at key moments, including successful shots from beyond the arc that helped maintain Türkiye's offensive momentum.

Crucial turnovers shift momentum

Serbia's struggles with ball security proved costly throughout the game. Marko Guduric committed three turnovers, including crucial ball-handling errors in the fourth quarter that allowed Türkiye to maintain their lead. Vasilije Micic added two turnovers, while Stefan Jovic's bad passes created additional scoring opportunities for Türkiye.

Türkiye capitalized on these Serbian mistakes, with Alperen Sengun recording a steal in the fourth quarter and Ercan Osmani adding two steals during critical moments of the game.

Late-game execution secures victory

The final minutes saw Türkiye execute effectively under pressure. With three seconds remaining, Şengun successfully converted both free throws after drawing a foul from Marko Guduric. Shane Larkin also contributed crucial free throws earlier in the fourth quarter, making both attempts to help extend Türkiye's advantage.

The victory sets up a Round of 16 matchup against Sweden for Türkiye, as they continue their pursuit of European basketball supremacy. With their perfect group stage record complete, the team has established themselves as serious contenders for the EuroBasket 2025 title.
