Türkiye's national basketball team will face Serbia on Wednesday in their final Group A match at EuroBasket 2025, with Turkish forward Sertac Sanli describing the contest as a pivotal opportunity to establish his team among the tournament's medal contenders.
The match in Riga represents the fifth and final group stage game for both teams, with Türkiye having already secured advancement to the Round of 16. A victory would allow Türkiye to finish atop Group A, while a loss would see them advance as the group's second seed.
"This is an important message match to show that we are one of the most important medal candidates of this tournament," Sanli told reporters following practice at Arena Riga. "We will reflect everything we can do on the court."
The 34-year-old pivot acknowledged the difficulty of facing Serbia, describing them as "one of the most important championship candidate s of this tournament." Sanli emphasized his team's determination to exceed their previous performances against such formidable opposition.
"We will reflect even more energy than in our first matches to the court, and hopefully we will be the winning side," he said.
Sanli attributed Türkiye's strong showing to visible team chemistry and collective motivation that extends beyond the starting lineup.
"We are writing a story," the veteran forward said. "How we are as a national team and what kind of energy we reflect on the court, what kind of emotion everyone who plays and sits on the bench has, everyone sees from the outside. We are writing a story. Hopefully it ends happily. We will continue to do our best to end this with a happy ending."
