Brazilian midfielder Fabinho is heading to Türkiye on Monday to complete his move to Trabzonspor after reaching a principal agreement, the Black Sea side confirmed, as reports put the deal at €7 million ($8.2 million) per year plus a signing bonus.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder is expected to arrive in Trabzon at 11:30 a.m. local time (GMT+3) on a private flight at Trabzon Airport, the club announced.

Veteran midfielder brings winning record

Fabinho left Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad in July, becoming available for a move without a transfer fee.

The midfielder brings experience from some of Europe's biggest clubs, having spent five seasons at Liverpool after making his mark at Monaco. He made 219 appearances for Liverpool and won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2019-20.

He played 111 matches for Al Ittihad after joining the Saudi club in 2023, helping the team win the Saudi Pro League and King's Cup in the 2024-25 season. In the 2025-26 campaign, he made 30 league appearances, starting all 30, and recorded one goal and three assists.

Fabinho reunites with Salah

Fabinho's arrival would mark Trabzonspor's second major free-agent signing of the season after Mohamed Salah left Liverpool, reuniting him with his former teammate of five seasons.

Salah joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract earlier this month after ending his nine-year spell at Liverpool. Under the deal, he earns €10 million in annual salary and receives a €7 million signing payment each season, giving him €17 million in guaranteed compensation per season.

Trabzonspor is one of Türkiye's four biggest clubs, with seven Super Lig titles, most recently in the 2021-22 season. The club finished third in the league last season and won the Turkish Cup, securing a place in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

The club is now looking to reach the Europa League league phase as it faces Hungary's Ferencvaros in the playoff round. Ferencvaros won the first leg 1-0 in Trabzon last week, leaving Trabzonspor needing to overturn the deficit in the return leg in Budapest on Aug. 27.
