A farmer in Kirklareli, western Türkiye, carved a giant message of support for the Turkish national football team into his land ahead of their opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Using a tractor plow in Cavuskoy village, Burak Tunckol wrote the words, “Good Luck, My Türkiye, at the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” creating a large-scale greeting clearly visible from the air. The creative display was put together with the support of village headman Mehmet Genc.
Drone footage showed the message spread across the soil after Tunckol shaped the letters with his tractor. The gesture came as excitement built up in Türkiye ahead of the national team’s first group-stage match.
A village headman, known locally as a muhtar, is an elected local official who represents a village or neighborhood in Türkiye.
Türkiye will begin its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Australia at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday evening.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 9 p.m. local time in Vancouver, which corresponds to 4 a.m. GMT and 7 a.m. Sunday in Türkiye.
