Fenerbahce swept aside Istanbul rivals Eyupspor 8-0 at home on Sunday, recording their biggest victory in Turkish Super Lig history as Vedat Muriqi scored four goals and Mason Greenwood struck twice.
The Istanbul side also became the first team from Europe's top 10 leagues to score five goals in the first half of a match this season, while reaching seven goals by the 55th minute set another league record for the club.
Fenerbahce took control almost immediately after a VAR, or video assistant referee, review determined that Eyupspor's Costa had fouled Muriqi inside the penalty area.
Greenwood converted the resulting spot kick in the fifth minute before Kerem Akturkoglu picked out Muriqi at the far post two minutes later, allowing the striker to double the lead.
Muriqi struck again in the 21st minute after goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan kept out Greenwood's initial effort, while Matteo Guendouzi made it 4-0 with a shot from outside the box in the 38th minute.
Irfan Can Kahveci then rounded off the first-half scoring in stoppage time after Greenwood set him up for a close-range finish.
Fenerbahce carried their momentum into the second half, with Muriqi completing his hat-trick just two minutes after the restart before heading in his fourth goal from Kahveci's corner in the 55th minute.
Greenwood wrapped up the 8-0 victory in the 80th minute after Oguz Aydin found him inside the penalty area.
The result also made Fenerbahce the club with the most Super Lig matches in which a team has scored seven or more goals.
