1907 Fenerbahce Association, a supporters’ group linked to Turkish sports giant Fenerbahce, has purchased a 30% stake in Consolini Volley, a women’s volleyball club competing in Italy’s Serie A league. Following the acquisition, the club has been renamed Consolini Volley 1907.
The association also secured an option to acquire an additional 40% stake in the Italian club, which could expand its influence further.
Fenerbahce board member Hulusi Belgu said the agreement opened a new path for cross-border partnerships in women’s volleyball. He noted that it would enhance Fenerbahce’s ambition to be a global pioneer in the sport and boost the club’s brand value abroad.
"This step not only strengthens our claim to be among the leaders of volleyball worldwide, it also creates development opportunities for our young players," Belgu said, describing the move as a multidimensional project that would broaden Fenerbahce’s vision and make Turkish volleyball more visible internationally.
Rifat Perahya, chairman of the 1907 Fenerbahce Association and a board member of Fenerbahce Sports Club, described the initiative as a turning point. He recalled that the association, founded in 1992 by 50 businesspeople, had always supported the club without seeking personal gain.
He explained that the new project would allow young athletes to compete at the highest levels in Europe, while also reinforcing the club’s international influence. "This is a historic moment not only for our women’s volleyball team but also for Turkish volleyball as a whole," Perahya said.
Fenerbahce Women’s Volleyball Team, officially known as Fenerbahce Opet due to a sponsorship agreement, is one of Türkiye’s leading clubs in the sport. Founded in 1928, the team competes in the Sultans League, he country’s top women’s volleyball division, which is widely regarded as one of the strongest leagues in the world.
