Istanbul club Fenerbahce has intensified its efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the second half of the season, entering advanced negotiations for international stars including Ademola Lookman, Alexander Sorloth, Christopher Nkunku, and Mateo Guendouzi, reports say.
According to Turkish and Italian media, Fenerbahce officials are in talks in Italy for Lookman, Nkunku, and Guendouzi, while negotiations for Sorloth continue and the club is expected to announce at least one signing soon.
Turkish broadcaster beIN Sports suggested that the Yellow Canaries are close to completing the transfer of Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, who currently plays for Serie A side Atalanta.
Lookman has appeared in 16 matches for Atalanta this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. The 28-year-old winger currently holds a €35 million ($41.04 million) market value on Transfermarkt, and if the transfer goes through, the fee is expected to be in that range, with his contract set to expire in July 2027.
However, Lookman, who is also a national teammate of striker Victor Osimhen, is reportedly also a target of Fenerbahce’s archrival Galatasaray.
According to Turkish daily Sabah, 30-year-old forward Alexander Sorloth, who is under contract with Spanish club Atletico Madrid until 2028, has informed the club’s management that he wants to play for Fenerbahce.
The report adds that officials from both clubs are expected to hold a final round of talks later this week. If the LaLiga side lowers Sorloth’s transfer fee to around €30 million, the deal is likely to proceed, the report added.
Sorloth has made 22 appearances this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
Fenerbahce is also evaluating the possibility of signing Christopher Nkunku from AC Milan, with intermediary Devin Ozek recently meeting with Milan’s sporting director, Igli Tare, to discuss terms for a potential transfer, Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported. A formal written offer will be made if an agreement is reached on the transfer fee, Sabuncoglu said.
28-year-old French striker, who previously played under Fenerbahce head coach Domenico Tedesco during the 2021–2022 season, joined the Milan side at the start of this season in a €37 million move from Chelsea, following an underwhelming spell in England.
Appearing in 14 matches, Nkunku scored only one goal and provided two assists. Despite his underwhelming form, the fee is expected to be around €30 million if both sides agree on a move, given his potential.
Fenerbahce has also made a €25 million offer for Lazio midfielder Mateo Guendouzi, entering competition with Premier League sides Sunderland and Newcastle, according to Italian sports outlet tuttomercatoweb.com. Guendouzi has reportedly agreed in principle to a move to Istanbul, but the final decision rests with Lazio, which is still evaluating the proposal.
The 26-year-old French midfielder has appeared in 15 matches this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. His contract runs through 2028, and his market value currently stands at around €28 million.
