Fenerbahce is navigating a critical juncture in its relationship with manager Jose Mourinho, as tensions mount over his future at the club.

The Portuguese coach is not expected to resign despite wanting to leave, prompting club president Ali Koc to seek a middle ground, according to Turkish media.

Sources say most of the board favors parting ways with Mourinho, while President Koc has proposed that the coach stay on under the condition of reshuffling his backroom staff.

Koc reportedly voiced his dissatisfaction and expectations in a direct meeting with Mourinho, and the two are expected to meet again in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has received offers from clubs in England and Saudi Arabia but is aiming to leave Fenerbahce only after collecting his remaining salary—reportedly nearing 20 million euros ($22.73 million).

The club, aware of the financial strain such a payout would impose, is moving cautiously.

As a contingency plan, Fenerbahce has identified a replacement. President Koc is prepared to hand over the squad to Edin Terzic, the German-Croatian manager currently available on the market.

Terzić, most recently with Borussia Dortmund, is seen as a ready and willing alternative should negotiations with Mourinho fall through.
