Fenerbahce's attempt to sign Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe has reportedly been turned down after Bologna head coach Domenico Tedesco, formerly of the Yellow Canaries, opposed the English player's departure from the Serie A club.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fenerbahce approached Bologna over the 23-year-old left winger as the Istanbul club continued to strengthen its squad following the arrivals of Mason Greenwood, Vedat Muriqi, Nathan Ake and Romelu Lukaku.
However, Bologna rejected the approach, with Tedesco reportedly unwilling to let Rowe leave because of concerns over reducing his team's attacking options further.
Tedesco, who coached Fenerbahce last season, is said to view Rowe as an important part of his plans after Bologna struggled to produce goals during their preseason matches.
Those concerns became more apparent in Bologna's 1-0 defeat to Brighton, when the Italian side reportedly found it difficult to build attacks from the wings and instead relied heavily on moves through the center.
Against that backdrop, Tedesco opposed Rowe's departure to avoid weakening Bologna's attacking resources.
Rowe joined Bologna from Marseille last summer for a reported transfer fee of €17 million and remains under contract until June 30, 2029.
The English winger has made 43 appearances for Bologna, recording eight goals and five assists.
Fenerbahce, meanwhile, opened the new Super Lig season, Türkiye's top-flight football competition, with a defeat against Genclerbirligi as the club continues to work on further additions to its squad.
