Fenerbahce has taken its first concrete step towards reinforcing its defense ahead of next season, with initial talks reportedly underway to bring back former defender Kim Min-jae from Bayern Munich on a potential loan deal.
As the club begins to map out its summer transfer strategy, strengthening the back line appears to be a top priority. Reports indicate that Fenerbahce has turned its attention to Kim Min-jae, a familiar figure for the Istanbul side, as it looks to build stability in defense.
According to local media, the player’s agent, Oliveira Rita, recently traveled to Istanbul and held a meeting with club official Ertan Torunogullari, suggesting that discussions have already been set in motion.
During the meeting, it was conveyed that Kim has not been getting the minutes he expected at Bayern Munich, which has led him to consider a departure. However, any potential move is currently expected to take shape as a loan rather than a permanent transfer.
The 29-year-old defender is understood to be open to returning to Fenerbahce, viewing the move as an opportunity to regain form and regular playing time. Club officials are now expected to follow up by opening talks with the German side.
Kim Min-jae featured in 31 matches for Bayern Munich this season, contributing one goal and one assist. His European career includes a notable spell at Napoli following his move from Beijing Guoan, before joining Bayern.
He previously played 40 matches for Fenerbahce, scoring once, and left a strong impression during his time in Istanbul.
