Fenerbahce has launched a move to sign Colombian striker John Duran, taking advantage of ongoing tensions between Cristiano Ronaldo and Saudi club Al-Nassr.
The Turkish club, managed by Jose Mourinho, is seeking to strengthen its squad after a disappointing previous season.
While rivals Galatasaray have made high-profile signings, Fenerbahce remained cautious until now.
Reports indicate Al-Nassr has distanced itself from Duran following the crisis with Ronaldo. Fenerbahce consulted Mourinho, who approved the transfer pursuit.
An initial offer has been made to Al-Nassr for a loan deal without a transfer fee, with Fenerbahce agreeing to cover part of Duran’s reported 20 million euro annual salary.
Duran, 23, joined Al-Nassr six months ago for 77 million euros and has scored 12 goals in 18 appearances.
