Fenerbahce have wrapped up their preparations for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League second qualifying round first-leg match against Polish side Gornik Zabrze, with new signing Mason Greenwood taking part in full team training.

The Istanbul club held its final session at the Can Bartu Training Facilities under head coach Ismail Kartal, with the opening 15 minutes made available to the media.

The players began with warm-up exercises before moving on to passing drills and a five-against-two ball-recovery exercise, while the closed section focused on tactical work.

Greenwood steps in as several players remain sidelined

Greenwood trained alongside his new teammates, but several players missed the session because of injuries or illness.

Yigit Efe Demir did not take part because of an injury, while Dorgeles Nene, Diego Carlos and Dominik Livakovic were also absent and are not included in the match squad. Rodrigo Becao remained out with flu.

Vedat Muric, who has recovered from his injury but is not registered for the match, started individual running exercises.

Fenerbahce retain the right to add or remove two players from their registered list until midnight.

The current squad includes Tarik Cetin, Ederson, Mert Gunok, Caglar Soyuncu, Yigit Efe Demir, Mert Muldur, Jayden Oosterwolde, Nelson Semedo, Milan Skriniar, Ognjen Mimovic, Archie Brown, Ismail Yuksek, Matteo Guendouzi, Fred, Irfan Can Kahveci, Levent Mercan, Bartug Elmaz, Oguz Aydin, Talisca, Kerem Akturkoglu, Marco Asensio, Anthony Musaba, Cengiz Under and Sidiki Cherif.

Gornik Zabrze plan to push forward in Istanbul

Gornik Zabrze also completed their preparations at Chobani Stadium, where head coach Michal Gasparik put his players through running, warm-up and passing exercises before finishing with tactical drills.

Gasparik described Fenerbahce as a powerful opponent but said his team would not sit back and focus solely on protecting its goal.

“We will try to play our own game. We will not only think about defending. We want to play attacking football,” Gasparik said, adding that Gornik had studied Fenerbahce closely and were ready for the atmosphere inside the stadium.

The Slovak coach also confirmed that Jaroslaw Kubicki would miss the match because of an injury.

Polish side prepared for intense home atmosphere

Gornik captain Erik Janza said the Polish team expected an intense atmosphere but would look to play without allowing the occasion to create additional pressure.

Janza identified avoiding an early setback as a priority, saying, “We want to show ourselves without getting stressed. Our priority is not to concede.”

The Slovenian defender added that the match would be his first appearance against a Turkish club.
