Fenerbahce reportedly revived its interest in English forward Mason Greenwood after Marseille failed to reach an agreement with Roma.

The move, which first came under the spotlight during Fenerbahce's presidential race in early June, had previously been put on hold because of the high financial demands.

However, changing conditions have prompted the Turkish club to step back into negotiations, according to Turkish media.

Fenerbahce ups Greenwood offer to €35M

Fenerbahce made significant progress during recent meetings with the player's representatives, with both sides now close to reaching an agreement on personal terms, according to Turkish sports outlet Fanatik.

The English forward reportedly lowered his salary demands from around €15 million ($17.1 million) per year, helping move the negotiations forward. Greenwood currently earns about €5.5 million annually at Marseille.

Attention has shifted to negotiations with Marseille, which is reluctant to lower its asking price. The Turkish club said to have tabled an offer worth around €35 million ($39.9 million), but the Ligue 1 side has rejected it and continues to value Greenwood at €55 million.

Marseille holds firm as rivals circle

Roma remains interested despite failing to strike a deal with Marseille, while Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal is also keeping tabs on the player. The Italian club is reportedly prepared to pay between €40 million and €50 million for the England international.

Marseille is reluctant to lower its asking price partly because Manchester United is entitled to 40% of any future transfer fee.

The French club is also looking to raise significant funds before the end of June to meet financial obligations and satisfy requirements set by France's financial watchdog, the DNCG, with reports suggesting it needs to generate around €100 million.

Greenwood, 24, enjoyed an outstanding season with the French club, making 45 appearances, scoring 26 goals, and providing 11 assists across all competitions.
