Former Fenerbahce winger Allan Saint-Maximin has come under scrutiny following remarks in which he claimed he was subjected to a doping attempt during his time at the Turkish club.
In a live Twitch broadcast in France, the 27-year-old said, "They even tried to give me doping. People don't know this. You can't speak openly because you get threatened. Sometimes you find yourself in situations that go beyond football."
The comments triggered a backlash from Fenerbahce supporters and prompted an official response from the club, which announced it would pursue legal action.
Speaking to Turkish media, sports lawyer Anil Dincer said that such claims carry serious legal consequences under FIFA and WADA regulations.
"Unless there is solid evidence, making these kinds of accusations publicly is not legally appropriate," Dincer said. "If the player believes he was encouraged to use a banned substance, the burden of proof lies with him."
He added that verbal attacks can be considered a violation under FIFA's Disciplinary Code, which may result in fines or a ban from football.
According to Dincer, FIFA's Articles 13 and 23 could apply in such cases. "If found guilty, the player could face a fine of at least 10,000 Swiss francs, or even up to a two-year suspension," he noted.
Fenerbahce has not provided specific details but stated that the club's legal team is reviewing the matter.
Saint-Maximin joined Fenerbahce on loan during the 2023–24 season before returning to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. There has been no official statement from FIFA or WADA regarding an investigation.
